Fees

How fees work

How paying for therapy works here, in the order most people ask.

  • Insurance we work with

We are out of network with insurance plans, so we do not bill your plan. Some plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network care, and your plan decides. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid.

    • Some PPO and POS plans reimburse out-of-network care

    • HSA and FSA cards are accepted

  • If you pay yourself

You pay for each session at the time of the session. Your fee is given to you in writing before you start. A limited number of reduced-fee spots may be open, so ask when you write. We ask for 24 hours notice to cancel, and a late cancellation may be charged, up to the fee for the session.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month you receive an itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can send to your plan. It lists a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether to reimburse, and we cannot promise it will.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of care before you start. We give you a written estimate in advance of your first session. It is an estimate and not a contract, and you can dispute a bill that is $400 or more above it.

  • Checking your benefits

Because we are out of network, we do not check your benefits. Before your first session, call your plan and ask what it covers for out-of-network mental health care and what a receipt must show.

Your fee is given to you in writing before your first session.
