Therapy for adults whose work has taken over

One-on-one counseling for burnout, career strain and the stress that follows you home. Your first session is a conversation about what you need.

Services

Therapy for the strain you are carrying

Every person's situation is different. You choose what to work on, and your counselor explains how each approach works before using it.

    Burnout and work stress

When work follows you home and rest stops helping. We talk through what is draining you, what you can change and what you can't, and build routines you choose.

    • Workload, boundaries and rest

    • Career decisions and transitions

    • Perfectionism and the pressure to perform

    Anxiety and worry

Racing thoughts, constant worry, physical tension. We use cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based methods, and explain each one before we try it.

    Relationships and boundaries

Communication with a partner, family or colleagues, and learning where your limits are. Sessions are one-on-one, and we focus on your side of the conversation.

    Low mood and motivation

When everything feels heavy and motivation disappears. We combine talk therapy with behavioral activation, which means small, planned steps back toward what matters to you.

    • Low mood, isolation and loss of interest

    • Self-criticism and hopeless thinking

    • Routines that support you

About Grove

One counselor, one steady room

Grove is a solo practice. Candace Banks, a licensed professional counselor, sees every client, so you work with the same person each week. Sessions are one-on-one, in our Portland office or by video.

  • Human-centered

A respectful relationship comes before any technique.

  • Clinically grounded

Care from a licensed counselor, using methods we name and explain.

  • Built around you

Goals and pacing evolve through ongoing collaboration.

How we work

Care with clarity, warmth, and purpose

What you can expect from the first session onward.

  • Personalized Care

Your goals, history, and pace guide the work rather than a one-size-fits-all plan.

  • Private by default

We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows.

  • Methods, named

We use cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, and explain each one before we use it.

  • In person or by video

Sessions at our Portland office, or by video for clients in Oregon, where we are licensed.

  • A focus on adults

Our work is with adults facing work strain, worry, low mood and hard stretches in relationships.

  • Collaborative Process

Regular check-ins keep goals, methods, and next steps transparent throughout the work.

Testimonial

Voices from Our Community

  • “The room is quiet and nobody rushes you. I could take my time saying what I came to say.”

    Fiona D.
  • “My counselor asked what I wanted from our time, then let me answer. It felt like a conversation, not a form.”

    Malcolm R.
  • “I was unsure about therapy. The first session was calm, and I knew what to expect before I left.”

    Paul K.
